Samsung has always been known for the regular updates it provides its consumers with. The Korean manufacturer had started updating the Note 3 to the latest version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat last week. And now the good folks back at Android Geeks have mentioned that the yesteryear flagships, the Note 2 and S3 will be getting the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update in the last week of March.
Samsung had updated the Note 2 with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in November which was followed by the S3 getting the same update a few weeks back in India. The first one to get the 4.3 Jelly Bean treatment was the Galaxy S4.
Some may argue that the Jelly Bean to KitKat upgrade is a pretty minor one but it is not really as minor as it seems like. The overall user experience gets enhanced pretty well with the update and you’ll get the additional software features that Samsung brings to the table as well. You’ll get the full screen immerse mode, all new status bar icons and a slew of performance upgrades with the same.
Only 2 countries so far have been able to get KitKat update for Note 3 whereas the gradual roll out is underway. However, the S4 has not been able to get the KitKat treatment as well. We believe that the same will be upgraded as well alongside the Note 2 and S3. This would probably be the last upgrade for S3 and Note 2.
