Samsung is rolling out a major firmware update of Galaxy S4 in India. The update can be done via FOTA (Firmware-Over-the-Air) or via Kies. The update brings many new goodies and bug fixes with UI improvement. The update is 343.09MB in size. As the updates are released in phases, you might face some issue while updating your device. It may take some days to reach your device, as not everyone will get this update right-away.
Make sure you manually check your device for update daily, by going to Settings > About Phone > Software Update. The official change-log is not yet available from Samsung, but as per Sammobile report, Samsung has done the following changes:
- New Camera Firmware
- Smearing issue has been fixed (Purple effect while scrolling)
- Smart Pause Toggle
- Move Apps to SD Card
- HDR Video (Can record HDR Video)
- Semi-transparent Status Bar
- New Icons in Settings
- Secure Boot Status (About Phone)
- Increase Legibility (Display) (New feature)
Samsung has also cleaned up some space in the phone storage via this update. As you may know, the 16GB variant of the Galaxy S4 comes only with 9.15GB of user accessible memory. The new update addresses this issue by giving the user the functionality to move apps to SD card and increasing the available storage to 9.23GB.
