After Iris 404e, Lava introduces Iris 408e for Rs. 3899

Lava is one of the prominent Indian device manufacturers out there, most of which can be attributed to the Android lineup of this device manufacturer. Lava has added two new smartphones: Iris 404e and Iris 408e to its Iris lineup. Both these smartphones are missing the crucial 3G connectivity option.

Iris 408e runs on the 3 year old Gingerbread Operating system. It is a huge letdown to see Indian brands launching Gingerbread devices into the market even when Android 4.4 is available, which is the fifth major update over Gingerbread. Things don't improve much as we go further. The phone is powered by a 1 GHz single core processor, 1500 mAh battery, 4 inch display, a 3 MP camera at the back and a VGA one at the front, 256 MB of RAM, 512 MB of on-board storage and micro sd card support. 3G support is expectdly missing from an Android smartphone at this price point.

None of these recent launches from Lava (404e and 408e) seem powerful enough to be placed in our handpicked list of best Android smartphones under Rs. 5,000.
